We are very excited to welcome Jody Dietch as Mishkan Israel’s Executive Director. We feel incredibly blessed to have found a talented and experienced synagogue leader with eighteen years experience in Greater New Haven and Fairfield County.

Jody has a BA from Keene State College and a MS in Public Relations from American University.  She lives in Orange with her husband, Jeff. They have two grown sons, Howie (Katie) and Mike, and two grandsons, Noah & Aaron.

Jody looks forward to meeting everyone in our community, so be sure to stop by and introduce yourselves the next time you are in the building.

We are thrilled to welcome Cantor Sierra Fox to Congregation Mishkan Israel. Many of you had the chance to meet Cantor Fox during her interviews here earlier this year, have heard her beautiful voice and have seen how well she fits in with our community.

Some welcome opportunites such as services and open houses will take place at CMI; others will be held at the homes of congregants who have generously offered to host small “meet-and-greet” receptions much like the ones we held to welcome Rabbi Schaefer. As in the past, these will be limited in capacity and will require registration in advance.

The full schedule of these events and links for registration can be found below.

During July and August, Rabbi Steinberg will lead Torah study on an investigation of the Reform erev shabbat service. We will look at the halachic structure of an erev shabbat service and the liturgical changes from the Union Prayer Book (UPB) through Gates of Prayer and Mishkan Tefilah. Which siddur is most comfortable? We will read and discuss the text of much of the service, followed by a discussion of which text people prefer and which ideas in the service are most appealing.
